Hey there, and welcome back. I’m Doctor Hunter Schultz, and you’re listening to the podcast from 920 Chiropractic Health and Injury Care here in Green Bay. Today we’re tackling something I get asked about all the time — and honestly, something I love talking about. We’re going to clear up some of the biggest myths about what chiropractors actually do. Because I’ll be honest with you, there’s a lot of misinformation out there, and it keeps a lot of people from getting help they really need.

So let’s just dive right in.

The number one myth I hear almost every single week is this — chiropractic care is just for back pain. And look, yes, we help a lot of people with back pain. But that’s really just the beginning. Chiropractors are trained to evaluate and treat the entire musculoskeletal system. That means joints, muscles, and nerves from your neck all the way down to your feet. Headaches, shoulder problems, knee issues, even jaw pain — these are all things we work with on a regular basis. The spine is central to what we do, but it’s far from the whole picture.

Now here’s the thing — a lot of people also believe that chiropractic adjustments are dangerous. That once you start, something could go wrong. I completely understand where that fear comes from. Nobody wants to feel uncertain about their health care. But here’s what’s important to know. Chiropractic care is widely recognized as one of the safest forms of treatment for musculoskeletal conditions. The adjustment itself is a controlled, skilled movement — it’s not random, and it’s not forceful in a harmful way. We go through years of education and clinical training specifically so that we understand anatomy, we understand what’s appropriate, and we know when to refer out if something is beyond our scope. You are in good hands.

Let me break down another big one for you. A lot of people think — once you go to a chiropractor, you have to keep going forever. Like you’re signing up for some kind of lifetime commitment. And I want to be really honest here. That is not how we approach care at 920 Chiropractic. Our goal is always to get you feeling better, help you understand what’s going on in your body, and give you the tools to maintain that progress on your own. Some people do choose to come in regularly for wellness care — kind of like how you’d go to the gym or get regular dental cleanings. But that is always a choice, never a requirement.

So what do we actually do when you come in? First, we listen. We take time to understand your history, your symptoms, your lifestyle. Then we do a thorough physical examination — looking at your posture, your movement, your joint function. From there, we put together a care plan that’s built around you specifically. Treatment often includes spinal adjustments, soft tissue work, rehabilitative exercises, and guidance on things like posture and ergonomics. It’s a whole-person approach.

Here’s something practical you can start doing right now. Pay attention to how your body feels during everyday activities. Are you waking up stiff? Does sitting at a desk leave you aching? Are you getting more headaches than usual? These are signals your body is sending you — and they’re worth paying attention to rather than pushing through. A lot of people wait until the pain is really bad before they seek care. And by that point, things often take longer to resolve. Earlier is almost always better.

If any of this sounds familiar — if you’ve been dealing with something that just won’t go away, or you’ve been curious about chiropractic but had some hesitations — I’d love to talk with you. We are here to answer your questions, no pressure, no obligation. A conversation costs nothing.
