How Chiropractic Care Can Be Preventative, Not Just Reactive

Episode Notes:

In this episode, Dr. Hunter Schultz from 920 Chiropractic Health and Injury Care challenges the common misconception that chiropractors are only for emergency back or neck pain.

While chiropractic care certainly helps when injuries occur, Dr. Schultz explains the often-overlooked preventative benefits of regular chiropractic visits.

Learn how proactive chiropractic care can help you avoid injuries and maintain optimal health, rather than waiting until something goes wrong.

Hey there, this is Doctor Hunter Schultz from Nine-two-oh Chiropractic Health and Injury Care here in Green Bay. Thanks for tuning in today.

You know, I want to talk about something that I think a lot of people miss when it comes to chiropractic care. Most folks think about seeing a chiropractor when their back goes out… or when they throw their neck out and can barely turn their head. And look, we’re absolutely here to help when that happens. But here’s the thing — chiropractic care can actually help keep those problems from happening in the first place.

Think about it this way. You change the oil in your car before the engine seizes up, right? You go to the dentist before you need a root canal. So why do we wait until we’re in pain to take care of our spine? Your spine protects your nervous system, and your nervous system controls literally everything in your body. It deserves some maintenance.

Now, let me break down what I mean by preventative care. When you come in regularly — maybe once a month, maybe every couple weeks depending on your situation — we’re checking how your spine is moving. We’re looking for areas where joints aren’t gliding smoothly, where muscles are getting tight, where things are just starting to get restricted. These are problems you might not even feel yet. But if we catch them early and keep things moving the way they should? You’re way less likely to wake up one day unable to get out of bed.

Here’s what I see all the time. Someone comes in after years of sitting at a desk, and their upper back and neck are locked up tight. Did that happen overnight? No. It built up slowly over months and years. Little restrictions here and there, postural stress adding up day after day. If we’d been checking in and adjusting things along the way, keeping that mobility, keeping those muscles balanced… that person probably would’ve avoided a lot of discomfort.

And it’s not just about avoiding pain. When your spine is moving well and your nervous system is functioning without interference, your body just works better overall. You might notice you’re sleeping more soundly. Maybe you’re handling stress a little better. Your body’s natural healing processes work more efficiently when everything’s aligned and communicating properly.

So what can you do starting today? First, pay attention to how you feel — not just when you’re hurting, but all the time. Are you stiff in the morning? Do you notice tension building up by the end of the week? Those are signs your body’s asking for some care. Second, move regularly. Walk, stretch, change positions throughout your day. Movement is life for your spine. And third, don’t wait for the crisis. Consider getting checked even when you feel fine.

Now, if you’ve never had a chiropractic evaluation or it’s been a while, come see us at Nine-two-oh Chiropractic. We’ll take a look at how your spine is functioning, talk about your lifestyle and any concerns you have, and create a plan that makes sense for you. Because prevention isn’t about coming in all the time for no reason — it’s about being smart and proactive with your health.

Alright, that’s it for today. Thanks so much for listening. If you have questions or you want to schedule a visit, just give us a call here in Green Bay. Take care of yourself, and I’ll talk to you next time.
