Hey there, thanks for tuning in. This is Doctor Hunter Schultz from nine-two-oh Chiropractic Health and Injury Care here in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Today I want to talk about something that surprises a lot of parents when they first hear about it… chiropractic care for infants.

Now, I know what you might be thinking. You’re picturing the adjustments adults get, and you’re wondering how in the world that could possibly be safe for a baby. And I totally understand that concern. But here’s the thing… infant chiropractic care is completely different from what we do with adults. It’s incredibly gentle, and I want to walk you through what it actually looks like.

So let’s start with why parents even bring their infants in. Birth is tough on babies. Think about it… whether it’s a natural delivery or a cesarean section, there’s a lot of pressure and positioning involved. Sometimes during delivery, a baby’s head and neck can get compressed or slightly misaligned. This can show up as difficulty nursing on one side, a baby who seems uncomfortable lying in certain positions, excessive crying that doesn’t have an obvious cause, or even something called torticollis, where the baby’s head tilts to one side.

When we examine an infant, we’re looking at their spine and nervous system development. We check for areas of tension or restricted movement. And here’s where it’s really different from adult care… the adjustment itself uses about the same amount of pressure you’d use to test the ripeness of a tomato. I’m talking fingertip pressure. Gentle, sustained contact. No popping, no cracking, nothing forceful whatsoever.

I often tell parents in my office… you’ll watch me do it and think, is that really doing anything? And the answer is yes. Babies respond to very light touch because their systems are so adaptable and responsive. We’re not moving bones around… we’re releasing tension, improving motion, and helping their nervous system function better.

A lot of parents notice changes pretty quickly. A baby who was fussy might settle down more easily. Nursing often improves when neck tension is released. Sleep patterns can get better. And parents report that their babies just seem more comfortable overall.

Now, is this something every baby needs? Not necessarily. But if you’re noticing your little one has trouble turning their head both directions, if they’re struggling with feeding, if they seem uncomfortable or extra fussy without a clear reason… it’s worth having them evaluated. Catching these things early can make a real difference in their development and comfort.

Safety is obviously the number one concern, and I want you to know that chiropractors who work with infants have specific training in pediatric care. We use techniques designed specifically for babies. It’s gentle, it’s safe, and it’s backed by parents who’ve seen their little ones thrive.
